THE CALIFORNIA VOTE COUNT UPDATE

Tomorrow will be a week since the California primary took place.

As of right now, 17% of the votes for Mayor of Los Angeles and 28% of the votes for California governor have not yet been counted.

Un effing believable.

And what an amazing difference between the on-time and late votes!!

The on-time votes in Los Angeles gave Spencer Pratt a solid second-place finish that would have put him on the ballot.  But the late votes have made that vote disappear.

See. not only were the preponderance of late votes cast by Democrats, but a disproportionate number of them were cast not for the incumbent mayor, Karen Bass – who got most of on-time Democrat votes – but for third place Nithya Raman.  This has resulted in Raman displacing Republican Scott Pratt as the second-highest vote total, which would knock him off the ballot and make it a Democrat-only race.

Do you trust that result?  Do you really believe late-votes were not only primarily Democrat but,, despite incumbent Karen Bass winning the overall vote, so many late votes were cast for Raman that the Republican is being knocked off the ballot?

For governor, the difference between second-place Republican Steve Hilton and third-place Democrat Tom Steyer is hundreds of thousands of vote – seemingly so great a difference that the switcheroo seen in the Los Angeles mayor primary cannot happen in this race…at least I don’t think so.  But given what’s going on in Los Angeles, who can say for sure?

Simply stated,, to call California’s voting system farcical would be to understate the meaning of farcical.
