Boy, you can\’t put a thing past the Director of the Center for Disease Control (CDC), thomas freiden.
Here is what freiden said, at his news conference yesterday, regarding the now-confirmed fact that Amber Vinson, the registered nurse who administered to ebola fatality Thomas E. Duncan, was given an ok by the CDC to fly from Texas to Ohio last week — despite telling them she had a fever:
“Eventhough there appeared to be little risk for the other people on thatflight, she should not have traveled that way”
Damn. No wonder he gets the big bucks. We desperately need incisive professionals like this to guide us through the ins and outs of issues like whether someone who was exposed to ebola and running a fever should or should not get on a commercial airplane. Otherwise how could we possibly figure it out for ourselves?
There “appeared to be little risk”? She has effing EBOLA, freiden. How would you have liked your family to be seated in the same row? To have used the same toilet?
Why does this man still have his job?
And, while we are on the subject of insanity, why does Barack Obama insist that we cannot ban commercial flights to and from the most ebola-affected countries until we are confident that the virus has stopped spreading and is contained?
This, let\’s recall, is the same administration that halted all flights into and out of Israel, because one hamas rocket landed two miles from Tel Aviv\’s Ben-Gurion airport.
Shutting down air traffic over one rocket attack that failed makes sense – if the country is Israel. But banning flights from the West African countries most infested with a virus we are wholly unprepared to deal with, which has a 70% fatality rate, doesn\’t?
I count the seconds until this eight year nightmare ends.

UPDATE: There is news this morning that a man was admitted to Yale-New Haven hospital in Connecticut for ebola-like symptoms – enough so that he is being quarantined.
I wonder if Mr. Freiden and his people think the quarantine should be lifted so he can take a plane flight or two. After all, there appears to be little risk…etc.
