TELEFRAUDULISM

By now, just about everyone knows that Robin Williams, though astoundingly talented, was also a very troubled man who fought addictions to drugs and liquor, had a somewhat checkered personal life (three wives), and committed suicide – possibly due, in part, to learning he had Parkinson\’s disease.

What a great opening for a telefraudulist to try and extract money from the faithful.

Or, put another way, enter pat robertson.

Here is what robertson had to say:

“What is your God? Is it money?  So, when you get money, what\’s going to happen? Is it fame? So, when you get fame, what\’s going to happen?

“You know, you see these very popular people in the media who commit suicide like Robin Williams recently.  And you say, \’What is the deal with him? What happened?\'”

“Well, you see, the God of the heathen are idols. And everything that you seek in life will ruin you, unless that something and somebody is God himself.”

So saith pat robertson:  a man who, himself,  is fabulously rich and famous.

I urge you to read about how he got that way…especially about his relation$hip with mobutu sese seko, the murderous dictator of what then was Zaire.  Read this 2001 investigative report from Time Magazine and decide for yourself how much of the money he reaped was going to humanitarian relief and how much was going to personal bank accounts.

Let\’s just say that mobutu was not exactly a robertson Christian – but it didn\’t seem to make a difference as long as the $$$$$ kept coming in.

Funny, I don\’t recall Robin Williams ever dealing with anyone like that.

Due in no small part to the mobutu relationship, and similar ones with other African dictators (charles taylor of Liberia comes to mind) robertson\’s net worth is cestimated to be somewhere in the hundreds of millions, maybe close to a billion dollars.

But..but..but he got that way, in part, by selling Jesus to the faithful, didn\’t he? This, apparently, makes the sordid $$$ deals all right.  Just ask pat.

If I were a Christian – especially a devout Christian – I would be appalled at this kind of garbage.  It would make me want to puke.

How sad that it ropes in so many well-meaning, gullible people who don\’t know any better.
