“What’s that you say? I look the other way as “protesters” act agressively and violently, and their aggressiveness and violence escalates? Who would ever have thought that this would happen?”
That is not a quote from New Jersey Governor mikey sherrill. But it pretty obviously describes the situation at Delaney Hall, where left wing, anti-ICE, pro-illegal immigration groups – many of whose members have behaved in ways that, if they were as right wing as they are left wing, would have put them in jail facing years in prison.

New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill, who earlier embraced protesters outside a federal immigration detention center in Newark, acknowledged early Sunday that some had engaged in “dangerous actions” against local police as escalating violence forced the city’s mayor to impose an emergency curfew.
Protesters grew increasingly aggressive Saturday night as they threw projectiles, grabbed security barriers and set fires outside ICE’s Delaney Hall facility. Mayor Ros J. Baraka admitted some were arrested in possession of weapons, necessitating the curfew.
The escalating violence created an embarrassment for Democrats like Sherrill who had embraced the protests just 24 hours earlier and asked ICE to stand down and let New Jersey police handle the crowds only to see her own officers assaulted and fires set on the streets.
That is the reality of the situation. But do you think this is how Governor sherrill presented what is happening at Delaney Hall to her constituents? If so, you don’t know much about Governor sherrill.
Here is the statement she issued about it yesterday:
“My top priority is keeping New Jerseyans and our communities safe – and an increased ICE surge in the area outside of Delaney Hall is a threat to public safety. We know that lives would be at risk were that to happen. And I will not accept that risk.
“That is why last night, the New Jersey State Police Public Safety Response Team acted to secure the area outside of Delaney Hall. This was absolutely necessary to protect public safety, and avoid escalation from ICE. As Americans, we have a right to protest — and we will continue to ensure New Jersey residents can peacefully exercise their First Amendment rights.
“Today and going forward, I urge everyone who is protesting to do so peacefully in the safe areas, and work together to bring the temperature down. We need to focus on advocating for better conditions for the detainees, for their families, and ultimately, for the closure of Delaney Hall.”
Fake surprise at its finest.
Basically, what you just read is “See, it isn’t the millions of illegals, many of them violent criminals, that the Biden administration allowed to come into the country. It is those damn Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) people – sent by Trump!!! – who are the real problem. If you just allow the illegals, including the criminal, violent ones, to be here unimpeded, we’re much safer. So stop them in their tracks, close the facility where they are being held…..and don’t forget to vote Democrat.”
Bottom line? mikey sherrill is a mirror image of Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger: someone who ran as a moderate and, immediately upon being elected, showed that the “moderate” posture was just a facade and she was a leftist progressive.
How many voters will realize this and learn from it?
I’d like to think a great many will. But I can’t say I’m confident.
