I rarely watch any TV series – my viewing is almost entirely news, sports and movies. But, while channel surfing last night, I caught a minute or two of a show called “Brooklyn Taxi”.
In that brief time period, I saw the end of a standoff in which a Muslim man was talked out of the “honor killing” of his sister. Then, in the station house, a female officer (I think) says words to the effect that they are a terrible thing – and is lectured that “honor killings” are prevalent in countries in which males exercise domination over women, and that they have nothing to do with Islam.
Yep, you read that right. It is left at the “fact” that honor killings have nothing to do with Islam. No argument, no rebuttal.
Maybe the writers of this show would like to provide us with a list of the male-dominated countries, so we can see if – purely by coincidence, of course – one or two of them might possibly be Islamic….
Let\’s just say this little piece of political correctness did not convince me to become a regular viewer.
