MUELLER’S FIRST “VICTORY”

Almost a year into the Mueller investigation Star Chamber and we have our first conviction.

From Katelyn Polantz and Liz Stark’s article at CNN – which hates Donald Trump with a passion, and would make something of this if it could, we have the following excerpts:

A Dutch lawyer tied to former Trump deputy campaign chairman Rick Gates became the first person to be sentenced in Robert Mueller’s investigation when a federal judge sentenced him on Tuesday to spend 30 days in prison and pay a $20,000 fine after he admitted to lying to investigators.

Alex van der Zwaan, who worked with Gates and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort while he practiced law at a large international firm, admitted to lying and failing to turn over emails to Mueller’s team in February.
He was wrapped into the special counsel’s investigation last fall after his firm, Skadden Arps, began to cooperate in an investigation of Manafort and Gates’ alleged contact with Ukrainians and Russians during the 2016 election. He lied in his first voluntary interview with investigators in November, and according to both Judge Amy Berman Jackson and prosecutor Andrew Weissmann on Tuesday, was “caught red-handed.”
Van der Zwaan “took steps to ingratiate himself with” Gates and Manafort and hid that from his law firm, “and that’s why he lied,” Jackson said Tuesday before she delivered his sentence.
“This is not something that happened to him. This is something he did,” she added. “He put his personal interest ahead of the interest of justice.”
In other words, after a year, we have the conviction of an obscure lawyer no one ever heard of, for lying about his relationship with Paul Manafort, who, let’s not forget (even though CNN decided to) was forced out of the Trump campaign in August, 2016; months before the election took place.
Tell me when I’m supposed to be impressed.
Then tell me when Mueller – who, unlike Ken Starr, when Bill Clinton was the President under investigation, has gotten full cooperation from the Trump administration throughout, not to mention every Democrat and most mainstream media venues doing everything they can to get him what he’s looking for – admits there’s no “there” there, and closes down this farce?

  • I don’t understand.
Why aren’t all Collusionists using Slick Willie ‘n Drunk Hillie’s lead-off phrases:

    As I recall, I don’t remember, It was something like, I’m not sure . . . . . .

And THAT is from two people who were paid a total of $30 or $40 million for their memoirs.
