Michael Brown and Dillon Taylor. What do they have in common?
-Michael Brown was a young man shot and killed by a police officer this month.
-Dillon Taylor was a young man shot and killed by a police officer this month.
-Taylor was a troubled young man who had a conviction for robbery and obstruction of justice (Michael Brown\’s juvenile record, if any, has not been made public. But there is video tape of him robbing a store minutes before he was shot).
-Taylor was apparently unarmed when he was shot by police (Michael Brown was unarmed as well).
-Taylor\’s friend, who witnessed the shooting, said he did not do anything to provoke the police (Brown\’s friend, who witnessed the shooting, said he did not do anything to provoke the police).
-Taylor was White (possibly part Latino), and the police officer was Black. (Brown was Black and the police officer was White.)
Want to compare what happened afterwards? You can\’t, because the difference is literally night and day. No huge protests, no screams of racism, no sharpton, no jackson, no statement from anyone in the White House. And, most importantly, virtually no media coverage other than local coverage: no network news features, no cable news panel discussions, nothing.
Would someone please explain this different to me? Thanks.
