IS TRUMP REALLY TRYING TO “NEGOTIATE” WITH IRAN?

President Trump, to hear him and his people tell it, is in the process of negotiating some kind of a deal with Iran.

Is that true?  Personally I assume it is not.

Apart from the fact that Iran has a decades-long history of ignoring deals it makes, no one knows who – if anyone – is in control of the country, let alone whether that person/those persons could guarantee any kind of a deal would be held to.

So what is really going on here?

My guess is that, as Trump is “negotiating” with who knows who about who knows what, our military is replenishing its military supplies and developing strategy based on what limited assets Iran still has.

And when its military supplies are sufficiently replenished, Trump will tell us that, while he tried every way possible, the “negotiations” are going nowhere.  He will then have our military take out as many of Iran’s remaining assets as possible – thus minimizing its ability to impede traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

Is this really the way of things?  I don’t know, of course.  But that’s how it looks to me.

I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
