The United States and Israel have begun military action against Iran.
The action is not against the people of Iran, but its murderous leadership.
I suspect Iran has a couple of long-planned actions that might inflict damage on the United States and Israel – primarily Israel.
But what I don’t see is how those actions can be sustained.
khamenei-led Iran is severely weakened by our previous military action, and the fact that so many of its people will wholeheartedly welcome the end of its brutal 47 year regime that has brought nothing other than loss of freedom to its people and the proliferation of terrorism around the world.
This is not like Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which putin seemed to think would end in days or weeks, but has gone on for over four years and done irreparable damage to both countries.
No, this is Iran: oppressed, impoverished (its currency is near-worthless), with its capital city, Tehran, a disaster due to drought/water scarcity.
For the above reasons, my expectation is that getting rid of this regime is not going to take four years and it’s not going to take four months. I doubt it will take four weeks. I would not be surprised if it were closer to four days.
And if khamenei-led Iran falls, my expectation is that its military – who killed all those thousands of civilians for daring to mount protests against him – will disintegrate and largely disappear.
For the sake of the Iranian people, and the rest of the world, let’s hope this expectation is correct.
