We\’re not going through this again, are we?
On Saturday, I called the Marlboro, New Jersey Hobby Lobby and asked if it had any Christmas merchandise available.
I was told “Yes, we have had it out for over a month”
Tonight I called the same Hobby Lobby and asked if it had any Hannukah merchandise available.
I was told “No, but I think we\’re getting some at the end of the month”
(I didn\’t bother to ask whether the store ever began stocking even a small number of Jewish-oriented cards, such as bar and bat mitzvah, wedding or bereavement cards.)
FYI: Hannukah, this year, runs from December 16th to 24th – thus coinciding almost exactly with Christmas.
It is possible that, for some reason, the store is bringing in Hannukah goods much, much later than Christmas goods.
And it is possible that, despite the large Jewish population of the area, Hobby Lobby is again declining to sell any Hannukah goods at all – as it did last year, until there was a major furor over its decision to do so.
I\’ll wait and see….
