HILLARY\’S HEALTH

Ken Berwitz

I\’ve written about Hillary Clinton\’s health many times over the past year and a half…and I\’m writing about it again today, because, in his latest commentary at newsmax, com, Ed Klein, author of “Unlikable” – The Problem With Hillary” (admittedly a very negative book), is making several points that should be of legitimate concern no matter how you feel about her.

A few excerpts:

Is Hillary Clinton fit to bepresident?

Putting aside her various scandals and shoddy record as secretary of state, what about her health? Is she physically up to the job?

Given the immense stress and strain of being president, Hillary\’s health is anissue that demands a thorough exploration.

To this day, Hillary stillsuffers from many of the troubling symptoms that I wrote about in Unlikeable:blinding headaches, exhaustion, insomnia, and a tremor in her hands. As aprecaution against the spectacle of fainting in public, which could easily doomher candidacy, Hillary now travels with a personal physician on all her majorcampaign trips.

There have been several incidents in which she has nearly collapsed. Forexample, after her 11-hour testimony before the Trey Gowdy Benghazi committee,Hillary swooned as she walked to a waiting car. She had to be supported in thearms of her aides and helped into the back seat.

Tension headaches continue to plague her and often make it hard for her tomaintain her grueling schedule. Huma Abedin, deputy chief of staff and herclosest adviser, frequently orders campaign aides to alter Hillary\’s scheduleat the last moment so the candidate can catch her breath and take out time fornaps. This may explain why Hillary is often as much as two hours late for acampaign appearance.

In short, this is not the portrait of a hale and hearty candidate for the WhiteHouse.

It\’s time for Hillary Clinton to release her complete medical records so thatwe can judge if she has what it takes to do the job of president.

Is Ed Klein correct in what he says?  This piece offers no specific evidence of the physical issues he claims are true (maybe they\’re in the book.  I don\’t know.  But they\’re not here).

But what we do know is that Ms. Clinton claimed to have been unavailable to testify at the Benghazi hearings for months because she fell and hurt her head.  At that time husband/former President Bill Clinton told us she was not right for 6 months.  And it is a matter of record that she does sometimes show up hours late at campaign events.

It is also hard to argue with the premise that, if she were to faint, swoon, or otherwise show a significant physical debility in public it could summarily end her presidential campaign — and throw the Democrat Party into complete chaos, given that its two current alternatives are a 74 year old self-proclaimed socialist and a former Mayor, then Governor, who has managed to garner maybe 3 – 4% support among party faithful.

What would Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid do then?  Would they try to sell the idea that even if Hillary is not up to the job health-wise she\’s better than any Republican (lots of luck with that).  Or that if she faltered, Hubby Bubba would still be there (sorry, he would have zero legal standing).  Would they be praying for Joe Biden to reconsider?  Maybe hoping the ghost of Harry Truman would materialize?  What?

And, worse still, what if it happened after she was nominated?

Bottom line:  Hillary\’s health is not just an issue, and not just a big issue. It is a HUGE issue.  And one that, I strongly suspect, is sending chills up and down the spines of Schultz, Pelosi, Reid & Co. — as it should.
