HILLARY’S BELATED COMEUPPANCE?

It wasn’t supposed to happen this way.

Hillary Clinton was supposed to win the 2016 election, become our first woman President, and her astonishingly stupid, astonishingly damaging four year use of a personal server for State Department Business – which she lied about every step of the way – was supposed to be buried in the same deep hole as Whitewater,  her stock market windfall, Travelgate, Benghazi, and assorted other events that would long ago have ended the careers of most other politicians.

But Donald Trump won.  And, with him, came a State Department which, at least at the top (embedded within it might be a different story), is not about to let this go bye-bye.

Excerpted from Malia Zimmerman’s article at foxnews.com:

The State Department has opened a formal inquiry into whether former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her aides mishandled classified information while she was the nation’s top diplomat, Fox News has learned. Despite being under investigation, Clinton and her staffers still have security clearances to access sensitive government information.

The department’s investigation aims to determine whether Clinton and her closest aides violated government protocols by using her private server to receive, hold and transmit classified and top-secret government documents.

Depending on the outcome of the current State Department inquiry, Clinton and her aides could have their access to sensitive government documents terminated.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, confirmed to Fox News the department’s formal inquiry.

Meanwhile, Grassley’s committee launched its own inquiry into Clinton’s handling of emails, an inquiry that began in March. Grassley cited among his concerns the July 5 statement of former FBI Director James Comey that the agency found Clinton and her staff members were “extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.” Grassley also contended there is “evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information…”

It is a testament to how politicized justice was during the Obama administration that, when  then-FBI Director James Comey’s beyond-ludicrous assertion that this was nothing more than being “extremely careless” and not worthy of indictment – with no recommendation that security clearance be waived – he wasn’t fired on the spot.  He should have been.

Here is what I wrote about Hillary Clinton’s security clearance after Comey’s testimony. How could her security clearance NOT have been removed?

So now – only after she narrowly lost a presidential campaign – we will finally have a serious investigation.

We do not know where the investigation will lead.  But at least we know there is a body of evidence causing it to take place – which is one helluva lot more than I can say about the Russia/Trump collusion investigation.

  • I didn’t realize until several months back that some ex-government employees retain security clearance and receive briefings of confidential information.
When they are no longer working for the government why do they still see top-secret information? Doesn’t make sense to me.
