Thsis has got to be the definition of tone deafness.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz just resigned as chair of the Democratic National Committee in disgrace. Why? Because it was crystal clear – first by her actions and then based on the emails which have come out, that instead of acting neutrally – her job as DNC chair – she was, in reality, working on behalf of Hillary Clinton, thus against Ms. Clinton’s challenger, Bernie Sanders.
The level of disgrace was so great that DWS resigned on the eve of the Democrats’ national convention, presumably to avoid being booed off the stage by enraged Sanders supporters.
So what does Hillary Clinton immediately do – also before the convention starts? She HIRES Debbie Wasserman Schultz as her “Honarary chair of her 50 state initiative to elect Democrats”…which anyone in his or her right mind knows, is, in reality, a way of getting her to continue working for Hillary Clinton just as hard as she worked for her while chairing the DNC.
This is supposed to calm the Sanders people down? Make them less outraged? Less likely to verbally and visually demonstrate their outrage at the convention?
Can Hillary Clinton and the people around her possibly be as tone deaf as they would have to be to OK this move? The answer, self-evidently, is yes.
Wow, and double wow.
I would have thought it nearly impossible to make prospects for a successful convention even worse than they already were. But Hillary Clinton, incredibly, has found a way to do just that.
If this is the level of judgment and common sense she brings to the party, little wonder that Donald Trump has caught and surpassed her in the polls.
The convention starts tonight. Is it going to be one for the books, or what?
