GORSUCH: THE DEMOCRAT “DEAL”

You can’t make this stuff up.

Democrats – who are a minority in the Senate – have offered a “deal” to Republicans that would insure Neil Gorsuch is voted onto the Supreme Court.

And what a deal it is!!  See for yourself, by reading the following piece of Burgess Everett’s article at politico.com:

The deal Democrats would be most likely to pursue, the sources said, would be to allow confirmation of Gorsuch in exchange for a commitment from Republicans not to kill the filibuster for a subsequent vacancy during President Donald Trump’s term. The next high court opening could alter the balance of the court, and some Democrats privately argue that fight will be far more consequential than the current one.

If Democrats move ahead with the plan — it’s still in the early discussion phase — it would require buy-in from some Republicans, but not necessarily Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) or his top deputies. At least three rank-and-file GOP members would have to pledge not to vote to unilaterally change the Senate rules through a majority-only vote later in Trump’s term — the so-called nuclear option.

You have to laugh.

The “so-called nuclear option” that Democrats want scrapped was created by THEIR guy, then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid – and was used so that Republicans could not filibuster THEIR nominees.

In other words, Democrats are offering a “heads I win, tails you lose” deal to Republicans.

Do you think Republicans are likely to take that deal?  Would you take that deal?

If Republicans want to put Neil Gorsuch on the bench, they can invoke the Harry Reid rule and he’ll be a Supreme Court Justice no matter what Democrats say.  Ditto for subsequent justices, if the issue is a party-line vote.

Nope, you can’t make this stuff up.  But that isn’t stopping the party of Clinton, Schumer and Pelosi from trying…
