“Go ahead and shoot. You’ll be doing me a favor.”
That classic line was spoken by Rick (Humphrey Bogart) to Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman), in Casablanca.
The updated version in my title could be spoken by Donald Trump, or just about any of his supporters, to robert mueller – who House Judiciary Committee chair Jerrold Nadler claims he wants to testify.
Don’t believe it for a minute. This is nothing but a silly dog and pony show.
Nadler may be obnoxious. Nadler may be a mail-it-in partisan hack. But hes not stupid. He knows that testimony from robert mueller can only hurt Democrats, not help them.
Who would benefit when mueller testifies that, as his report says, there was no collusion and insufficient evidence to go forward with any charges that Trump obstructed justice? He can’t say otherwise without inherently debunking his entire report.
Who would benefit if mueller is asked why he didn’t exonerate Trump, and would be compelled to explain that his non-exoneration didn’t mean a thing, because this was not a trial, there was no cross examination, only one side was heard, therefore neither a declaration of guilt nor exoneration would be possible.
Who would benefit when Republicans on the committee, now given the chance to ask the questions neither Democrats nor mainstream media would, grill mueller about the fact that he spent not one second looking into the collusion between Hillary Clinton’s campaign and British national Christopher Steele, whose dossier was filled with virtually all-Russian sources?
Who would benefit when Republicans ask when mueller found out that Steele acknowledged the dossier information was unverified, and then demand to know why the investigation wasn’t shut down right then?
And who would benefit when Republicans ask mueller why he didn’t summarily shut down the investigation the minute he knew that, with or without the dossier, there was no basis for collusion?
No, there is absolutely nothing good that can come of this testimony for Democrats, but a ton of things that can damage them. And Jerrold Nadler knows it.
So, unless Nadler has become a complete idiot, do not expect to see him calling robert mueller to testify any time soon.

How about asking Hillie about the $145 million the Rooshins generously contributed the the Klinton Foundation ?
