FOX\’S SIDE OF THE STORY

Ken Berwitz

Ok, we\’ve heard Donald Trump\’s side of the story.  Now here\’s Fox\’s, via this excerpt from Josh Feldman\’s article at mediaite.com (the bold print is mine):

Donald Trump claimed on CNN tonight that he had multiplecalls with Fox News today about the debate and someone apologized to him. FoxNews responded in another strong statement.

This is the statement Fox News provided to Mediaite tonight:

Roger Ailes had three brief conversations with Donald Trumptoday about possibly appearing at the debate – there were not multiple callsplaced by Ailes to Trump. In the course of those conversations, we acknowledgedhis concerns about a satirical observation we made in order to quell theattacks on Megyn Kelly, and prevent her from being smeared any further.Furthermore, Trump offered to appear at the debate upon the condition that FOXNews contribute $5 million to his charities. We explained that was not possibleand we could not engage in a quid pro quo, nor could any money change hands forany reason. In the last 48 hours, we\’ve kept two issues at the forefront – wewould never compromise our journalistic standards and we would always stand byour journalist, Megyn Kelly. We have accomplished those two goals and we arepleased with the outcome. We\’re very proud to have her on stage as a debatemoderator alongside Bret Baier & Chris Wallace.

Fox News would not confirm Trump\’s claim that he received anapology from someone at the network.

There it is.

Now:  who is telling the truth and who is lying?

Your call.
