FAKE NEWS FROM THE TODAY SHOW’S PETER ALEXANDER (UPDATED)

I was just watching The Today Show with my wife, and was told by host Peter Alexander that President Trump had made “the eyebrow-raising suggestion” that disinfectant be injected into human bodies as a treatment for COVID-19.

Could Trump have actually said that?

The answer, in one word, is no.  He said no such thing.

After setting it up with this lie, Alexander then made the mistake of playing a video of Trump that was supposed to show him doing so.

But it didn’t.  People who paid attention to Trump’s words (instead of just accepting Peter Alexander’s lie), heard him note the effectiveness of disinfectant, and ask – not suggest, but ask –  “is there a way” it could be injected into humans, noting that doctors would have to make such a determination, and ending with ‘it sounds interesting”.

So Trump did not – repeat, did NOT – say what Peter Alexander claimed he said.

But that didn’t stop Today from contacting Lysol and asking if it could be done, then reading the “under no circumstance” response, as if it were a rebuke to President Trump’s “suggestion” – the one he did not make.

And these people wonder why Trump uses the term “fake news”?

Why?  What is there to wonder about?

UPDATE: I don’t know if someone over at Today read this blog, or got similar information from someone else, or maybe just became ashamed of the original report’s overt dishonesty…

… but the story was just repeated – this time saying that “the President was “pondering the possibility of” injecting disinfectant into humans.  Not suggesting it be done, but pondering the possibility.

If they had reported it this way in the first place, I would not have blogged about it.  But they didn’t, did they?

Now we can only wonder how many people heard the first, fraudulent, description and “know” he suggested that it be done.

I’ll end this update the way I ended the blog’s initial incarnation:

FURTHER UPDATE:

I just got a copy of the verbatim transcript of what President Trump said – complete and in context – after Bill Bryan, Under Secretary for Science and Technology at the Department of Homeland Security, noted that warm weather and sunlight are instrumental in killing off the COVID-19 virus.

Here it is:

“So, I’m going to ask Bill a question that probably some of you are thinking of if you’re totally into that world, which I find to be very interesting. So, supposing when we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light… and I think you said that hasn’t been checked, but you’re going to test it.

“And then I said supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you’re going to test that too. Sounds interesting. And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute.

“And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that, so that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me.

“So, we’ll see, but the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute. That’s pretty powerful.”

I rest my case.

  • I have said several times I feel bad for those not watching the daily briefings and only relying on media to tell them about it.

  • Amen free! Again it became my filter in the 1970s to NOT believe what the media claims. Usually up to a week later they tell another maybe more accurate story. I can count on one pinkie the numbers of faults the media has admitted!!! My wife and I watch the President & Task report and then change stations. Same with debates and addresses. Saves much grief.
That makes this Mr. Berwitz website valuable for Americans who want to know what the blank is actually going on! Thanka You.

  • Thanks Ernie, it is nice to know you too are watching the daily briefings, I don’t understand why more people don’t spend from 45 minutes to 2 hours [some last longer than others] and watch these important briefings for themselves.
I can remember a time when people cared about what was happening in this country. For those of us that have been watching, the mistakes and the lies from the media are glaring and in a sane world would never be broadcast, for fear of retaliation from the American public. Now it seems they can get away with just blatantly lying with no repercussions.
