Another prominent Democrat has trashed Elie Wiesel — the Holocaust survivor, author, and Nobel Peace laureate who died on Saturday. Dorothy Reik, president of the Progressive Democrats of the Santa Monica Mountains and a member of the Los Angeles County Democratic Central Committee, wrote an email quoting a reference to Wiesel as a “Holocaust whore” and adding: “I had met people who made their livings from the holocaust [sic] but never to the extent that Wiesel did.”
Incidentally, the “holocaust whore” line came from max blumenthal, the son of like-minded sidney blumenthal, one of Hillary Clinton’s longest-term and closest confidants.
I call sidney blumenthal like-minded, because the emails from when Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State, had him sending a stream of anti-Israel diatribes from his son to Ms. Clinton.
NOW, she is trying to distance herself from this ugly material. but for the entire four years she was Secretary of State, not one email response to the Blumenthal ugliness has materialized disclaiming it in any way – and, it seems to me, that if any existed, Ms. Clinton would have run, not walked, to provide it.
All too many Jewish Democrats, and Israel supporters regardless of their religion, seem blissfully unaware of how strongly the Democrat Party has turned to anti-Semitism and Israel hatred.
Personally, I have friends who still think because long-time Jewish congresspeople like Nita Lowey, Jerrold Nadler, Eliot Engel, Chuck Shumer and a few others are still there, nothing must have changed.
How wrong they are.
