Perhaps you have heard of something called Fusion GPS. If so, it probably moved into your radar during the two or three days that mainstream media gave it non-lead story coverage, before depositing it in the “do not resurrect” file.
Well, if Thor Halvorssen, who heads something called the Human Rights Foundation, has anything to say about it, they will be forced to, at least for a short time, remove it from that file.
Excerpted from Dan Boylan’s article in the Washington Times (NOT the Washington Post, of course):
The secretive Washington firm that commissioned the sensational anti-Trump campaign research dossier also advised corrupt Venezuelan officials accused of conducting a lucrative money laundering scheme, a respected international human rights group told lawmakers probing the Russian election-meddling scandal.
Thor Halvorssen, head of the New York-based Human Rights Foundation, told the Senate Judiciary Committee in written testimony that Washington-based political intelligence firm Fusion GPS operated a campaign against journalists who threatened to expose a multibillion-dollar fraud involving faulty South American electric power plants, the laundering of its proceeds in U.S. banks and a kickback scheme to pay off Venezuelan officials.
“Corrupt government officials in dictatorships would be powerless if they didn’t have cronies in the business world, and these cronies, in turn, would be useless allies without enablers like Fusion GPS, who are eager to whitewash and profit from their crimes,” Mr. Halvorssen wrote.
Fusion GPS is the entity that produced an anti-Trump Dossier, which media gleefully published copious parts of…before it became clear that much of its contents was either unsubstantiated or outright false And, importantly, that much of its unsubstantiated false information was apparently from Rusian sources…..
….hey, wait a minute. Wasn’t Russia supposed to be trying to get Trump elected, not Clinton?
It is also the entity that is refusing to to testify before congress.
And, of course, it is the entity that mainstream media are doing their level best to bury, to provide little or no coverage about.
Anyone doubt the reason why?
It is long, long past time that Fusion GPS, what it does in general, what it specifically did on behalf of Hillary Clinton and against Donald Trump, be fully reported and fully discussed.
Maybe Mr. Halvorssen can square the circle and get that to at least start happening.
I wish him luck. But I am not optimistic.
