As passenger cars quickly morph from gas (i.e. oil) dependency to electricity…
…how are the electric cars going to be recharged?
No problem! Joe Biden has the answer!! He promised to spend lots of taxpayer money (Biden’s answer to anything and everything) by putting charging stations all over the country. A half-million of them!! Problem solved!!!!
Except…we are talking about Joe Biden here.
From Nikki Schwab’s article for London’s Daily Mail (with an unexpected assist from the Washington Post):
More than two years after President Joe Biden pledged to build 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations throughout the United States only seven are operational across four states.
The Washington Post reported Friday on the sluggish pace the allocated $7.5 billion in infrastructure funds have been put to use.
The bulk of the funds, $5 billion, are to go toward building fast chargers along major interstates – what’s being called the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure or NEVI program.
To satisfy the federal program’s requirements, chargers must be built at least every 50 miles over major highway routes and be operational 97 percent of the time.
Way to go Joe! Excellent performance!! Right up there with securing our border!!
Except…
…according to the Federal Highway Administration there are about 160,000 miles in our national highway system.
So, let’s see: 160,000 divided by 7….uh…ah…oh, there we go. That $7.5 billion dollar allocation has, in two years, managed to bless us with one charging station every 22,857 miles – which, the last time I checked, was a tad more than every 50 miles.
Okay, okay, that doesn’t sound like much, I admit. But since they are only in four states, if we assume the states are of average side, that would be one charging station every 1,829 miles. That’s much, much better than one every 22,857 miles…
…as long as you don’t factor in that it 1829 miles is 36.58 times the required distance for those four states, and leaves the other 46 states without any charging stations at all.
I guess the answer is that Biden must force electric car companies to produce vehicles that can go 1,829 miles without recharging. Then 4 of the 50 states have it made??
Hmmmmmmmm, y’know, maybe that isn’t so great after all.
I will end with a tip of my imaginary hat (I rarely wear one) to the Washington Post for actually engaging in journalism and publishing something about this beyond belief embarrassment/disgrace. Too bad just about no one else in what passes for our mainstream media seems to be doing the same.
Now: who got the $7.5 billion dollars Biden allocated. And what did they do with it? They sure as hell didn’t build charging stations.
Anyone check the two dozen or so Biden family shell company accounts?
