What does it take for Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki to be fired?
Apparently this is not enough:
-Something like 40 dead while waiting for appointments that never came at the Phoenix VA hospital alone.
-Major evidence that there were secret “waiting lists” at other VA hospitals.
-Audio tapes of personnel openly talking about how they “game” the lists to make it look like the horror shows going on at those hospitals were not occurring.
Shinseki\’s reaction? He\’s “mad as hell”. President Obama\’s reaction? He\’s “angry”. The end.
In an earlier blog, I pointed out that VA problems go back well before the Obama administration, and therefore it would be unfair to blame this administration for the overall condition of the system.
But if things have gotten this bad during the Obama administration, if they have degenerated this far, and President Obama leaves the head guy in place anyway, that just might be a different story.
If Eric Shinseki is “mad as hell”, let him vent his anger somewhere else. It is a disgrace that he has not already been removed as Secretary of Veterans Affairs……and that disgrace grows every day he remains.
