Only a few, if any, readers will know who Lloyd Harris was. So let me tell you.
Lloyd was the brother, and long time business partner of J. Robert “Bob” Harris, at JRH Research….until a rare brain disease – one with no cure – took hold of him. Lloyd fought back. Hard. But, yesterday, it finally defeated him.
Anyone who knew Lloyd – or brother Bob – could not have met better people anywhere. I am so terribly sorry that Bob has lost his beloved brother, and we have lost one of the true good guys. A sweet, gentle, intelligent, compassionate soul who did not in any way deserve this kind of fate.
Here is Bob\’s tribute to Lloyd, from the diary which was kept at caringbridge.com.
Itsaddens me to inform you that my best friend, business partner, andbeloved kid brother has passed away. It happened this morning, justbefore noon, at the Riv. By sheer chance, both Mary and I were therewhen he died. It was very peaceful; he was in no pain or discomfort. But all hell must be breaking loose up in heaven, now that he ishooked up again with Mom, Pops, and Mildred.
As you mayknow, Lloyd donated his brain to the Brain Bank at Mt. Sinai.Hopefully, they will make some inroads to understand this mysteriousaffliction so that others will not have suffer what he went through. No funeral arrangements have been made as yet, but when I get ittogether, I will put a notice here. Please feel free to notify anyoneyou know who knows Lloyd but is not connected via CaringBridge.
This has been a long, difficult struggle. Mary and Idid everything we could think of for Lloyd, but it would not havebeen possible without all the love, hope, prayers, encouragement, andgood wishes that you sent our way. I know that Lloyd appreciated allyour messages. You made it possible for him to deal with his illnesswith grace and fortitude.
Our entire family: April, Mary, Evanand I, thank you for being there.
Much love always,
J.R.
May Lloyd Harris rest in peace. And may Bob Harris have the strength to go on as the person he has always been…because it doesn\’t get better.
