IS ELIJAH CUMMINGS LOIS LERNER\’S CO-CONSPIRATOR?

Is Elijah Cummings moving heaven and earth to subvert the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee hearings on the IRS scandal because he is trying to save his own butt?

This is unbelieva…..well, actually, no it isn\’t.  These days, nothing is unbelievable anymore.

Excerpted from Susan Ferrechio\’s article at washingtonexaminer.com:

HouseOversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman DarrellIssa, R-Calif., has accused the panel\’s top Democrat of promptingthe InternalRevenue Service in 2012 to target a conservative organizationapplying for non-profit status.

Issasaid records obtained last week from the IRS show communications fromthe office of ranking member Rep. ElijahCummings, D-Md., about True the Vote, a Texas-based, non-profitconservative group that aims to prevent voter fraud.

“TheIRS and the Oversight Minority made numerous requests for virtuallyidentical information from True the Vote, raising concerns that theIRS improperly shared protected taxpayer information with Rep.Cummings\’ staff,” a statement from the Oversight panel reads.

Issasaid Cummings and his office asked for more information in January2013 about True the Vote, this time getting Lerner involved.

Atone point, an email revealed, Lerner asked her deputy, “Did we findanything?”

Whenthe deputy said she had not received any new information, Lernerresponded, “thanks – check tomorrow please.”

Issasaid Cummings had previously denied asking the IRS about True theVote.

Can this possibly be? Can Elijah Cummings – who, as the committee\’s ranking Democrat, has become a major league hatchetman, fighting every inquiry every way he can – in reality be covering not for lois lerner, but for himself?

Just when it seemed the IRS scandal couldn\’t get any more bizarre, any dirtier….

Please stay tuned to see how this story – this huge story – progresses.

But don\’t expect to see it on the network news tonight.  Because, in the rich tradition of doing their master\’s bidding, the networks are almost certainly going to bury this story just as deeply as they have buried virtually everything else about the IRS scandal.

After all, we\’re talking about the Obama administration.  And we can\’t sully our lord and savior, can we?  Better to go after Governor Christie because he may have known about a couple of lane closings for four days on the George Washington Bridge, or Vance McAllister\’s hot steamy interlude with one of his aides.  Those stories are far more important than the IRS suppressing free speech, aren\’t they?

Well, aren\’t they?
