Well, the issue is ended.
Secretary of State John Kerry has told us that the latest breakdown in the “peace process” between Israel and Palestinian Arabs – the one that has broken down continuously for 47 years and counting – is Israel\’s fault.
Excerpted from Mark Landler\’s article in today\’s New York Times:
Secretary of State John Kerry said Tuesday that Israel\’sannouncement of 700 new apartments for Jewish settlers in EastJerusalem precipitated the bitter impasse in peace negotiations lastweek between Israel and the Palestinians.
WhileMr. Kerry said both sides bore responsibility for “unhelpful” actions, he noted that the publication of tenders for housing unitscame four days after a deadline passed for Israel to releasePalestinian prisoners and complicated Israel\’s own deliberationsover whether to extend the talks.
Mr.Kerry also criticized the Palestinian Authority for applying to joina number of international agencies, a move toward recognition ofPalestinian statehood outside the context of peace negotiations. ThePalestinians say they took those steps in response to Israel\’sactions.
Let\’s get this straight:
-Israel agreed to release over 100 Palestinian Arab prisoners who were convicted of, among other things, terrorism and murder, in return for a promise not to seek statehood without a border and other peace conditions negotiated with Israel.
-Israel started releasing the prisoners, in four installments. It completed three of them….and then Palestinian Arabs sought the non-negotiated statehood anyway. THAT is why Israel is not releasing the rest of them.
The construction of 700 apartments in Israel\’s capital city, while a convenient excuse for Kerry, Obama, and anyone else disposed to attack Israel and excuse Palestinian Arabs, is a BS diversion.
The Obama administration never seems to find a way to assign primary blame for the people who want Israel vaporized and every Jew dead, the people who want all Jews out of Judea and Samaria (the west bank) – compared to Israel, where 20% of the citizens are Arab. The people who live under a charter that specifically states every square inch of Israel is muslim land and not subject to any negotiation of any kind.
Nope, it\’s Israel.
I wonder how the “Lost Tribers” – i.e. the Jews and non-Jews who support Israel but also support Obama & Co., are going to mangle reason and logic to rationalize this one.
