ISRAEL PEACE PARTNER: REALITY CHECK

After a year of trying to resurrect a “peace process” between Palestinian Arabs and Israel, the White House is now telling us we need a “reality check”.

That, in and of itself, would be laughable, given the futility of resurrecting something which never truly existed in the first place.  But, this being the Obama administration, it of course goes further.

Excerpted from Ian Swanson\’s article at thehill.com:

TheWhite House said Wednesday it was “disappointed” by theactions of Israeli and Palestinian leaders that have putU.S.-brokered peace talks in deep trouble.

WhiteHouse spokesman Josh Earnest in comments on Air Force One denouncedrecent “unhelpful, unilateral actions both parties have taken inrecent days.”

Bothparties have backed out on preliminary commitments they had made torestart peace talks. The Palestinian leadership had agreed to notseek United Nations recognition of the state of Palestine in exchangefor Israel releasing 104 Palestinian prisoners.

Buton Wednesday, the Palestinian leadership submitted applications to 15separate international treaties within the United Nations in a bidfor recognition.

Thatmove came after Israeli leaders over the weekend refused to release afinal batch of Palestinian prisoners. Israeli officials said theybelieved the Palestinians would walk away from the peace processafter prisoners were freed.

Let\’s see:

-Israel agrees to release 104 Palestinian Arab prisoners — the article doesn\’t bother to mention that they include convicted terrorists and murderers

-In return, Palestinian Arabs promise not to seek UN recognition for a state without an agreement between the two entities on what the borders would be:  exactly the kind of promise that Palestinian Arabs have made for the past 47 years of this so-called “peace process” and then ignored.

-So Israel completes three of the four rounds of prisoner releases it promised; i.e. it is fulfilling its end of the bargain…

-…at which time Palestinian Arabs renege on the one thing Israel was supposed to get in exchange.

-And now we have Palestinian Arabs complaining that Israel did not release all the terrorists and murderers.

The Obama administration\’s position?  That there is equal culpability between the two, as if Israel has not done most of what it promised, stopping only when Palestinian Arabs broke their end of the agreement.

Does that look like equal culpability to you?  Well it does to the Obama administration.

Another incident for the “Lost Tribe” – i.e. the Jews, and non-Jews who support Israel but support Obama as well  – to contort some kind of rationale for.  I can\’t wait.

This, readers, is the state of the “peace process”.  Which is to say, just as non-existent as it has ever been.

If any of this at all surprises you, just keep reminding youself:

Israel wants peaceful co-existence.  Palestinian Arabs want Israel; every square inch of it.

Remember that, and you will never be surprised again.
