OF CROOKS, LIARS, AND CENSORSHIP CELEBRATIONS

Want to have a laugh?  A gritted-teeth one, but a laugh nonetheless?

Then click on this link to a blog by “Heather” at the hard-left crooksandliars.com web site, and read about the Health Center in Michigan which has decided to ban Fox News Channel (FNC) from all its waiting room TVs, “because a board member complained about coverage of the ACA.”

Do I find overt censorship funny?  Nope, and neither should you.

But what I do find funny -maybe laughable is a more accurate description – are the comments (almost 100 as I write this, and sure to increase) which, one after the other, are joyously celebrating the fact that it is being done…because it is being done to FNC.

Freedom of speech is not some abstract philosophical point.  It is very real.  And it only surfaces as an issue when there is disagreement (it is irrelevant when everyone agrees).  Therefore, banning a source of information you disagree with is, by definition, taking a stand against freedom of speech.

Funny thing about banning what you disagree with, though:  it tends to work both ways.

I wonder how laughable the comments from this bunch would be if it were MSNBC….
