OREGON\’S OBAMACARE WEB SITE

In the previous blog I talked about the impossibly ridiculous cost of ObamaCare web sites – not just the national site (as much as $634 million for a disaster on steroids which – despite the lies of its PR flaks in the media, is still nowhere near fixed), but the sites for state exchanges as well.

I noted that Maryland\’s web site cost $261 million dollars – all but $47 million of it federal tax money – and it was as complete a disaster as the national site.

Well now I have news about the Oregon web site – via the following excerpts from Dusty Lane\’s article at Portland\’s KATU-TV which, to its great credit, is one of the few media venues actually looking into this, instead of looking the other way on behalf of Obama & Co.:

Auditsare rarely interesting.

Auditsthat don\’t even exist, much less so.

Buta missing audit related to Cover Oregon raises the same criticalquestions it was originally supposed to answer.

Themystery is as complicated as it is important.

Last February, the power players behind Cover Oregon held an emotional meeting.

When the meeting was over, the group created a report of everything that had been hashed out -19 issues in all.

Tucked away on page four of that list is a brief item labeled “Oracle Contract Issues.” It touches on contracts and accounting the state used with Oracle – the vendor hired to provide much of the website\’s software and technical support – that were “inconsistent with generally acceptably industry best practice procedures.”

The report goes on to say the issue was resolved, citing an audit by the Secretary of State\’s office that “found everything in order.”

But the KATU On Your Side Investigators have learned that that audit – the only piece of evidence used to dismiss major accountability problems surrounding a contract that eventually grew to $119 million – doesn\’t exist.

A grotesquely unacceptable web site.  An audit which supposedly found everything in order…but apparently was never conducted.

There is a great deal more in Dusty Lane\’s report – well worth reading for anyone who is interested in knowing just how deep the corruption and dishonesty goes – corruption and dishonesty which seems to envelop ObamaCare like the morning fog in San Francisco.

Let me ask again, as I asked in the previous blog: When are our mainstream media going to come down on the administration people responsible for this debacle?  When are they going to demand an explanation of why the companies which screwed taxpayers so badly are not held to account?  Why the web sites are not just bad, but damn near inoperable?  Why the administration is not insisting that part or all of the unconscionably high amount of money it spent on the web sites is not returned – with an apology?

The people of this country – not just Maryland and Oregon – deserve answers.  Not pathetic lies about how wonderful ObamaCare is working, which treat them like idiots.

When does it happen?  When do the “journalists” take KATU\’s lead and act like journalists?

Ever?
