Ken Berwitz
Today\’s quote comes to us from Brent Staples, who is a member of the New York Times editorial board.
Take a look at this tweet from Mr. Staples, about whether President Obama should pick the next Supreme Court Justice….and get a birds-eye view of why the New York Times editorials are what they are:
“In a nation built on slavery, white men proposedenying the first black president his constitutional right to name SupremeCourt nominee.”
Got that?
-Our nation was built on slavery (the last 151 years of nation building doesn\’t count),-White men (the congress is neither comprised of only Whites nor only men),-propose denying the first Black President (it\’s not because he is a President and there is an opposition party, it\’s because he is Black),-his constitutional right to name Supreme Court nominee (no one is denying Barack Obama his right to name a nominee, Republicans in congress are talking about exercising their right to reject his nominee – which Democrats have certainly done to Republican nominees in the past).
To tell you the truth, I wasn\’t sure of whether to post this as Quote Of The Day or Real Racism.
I often say that it is amazing how much racism is spewed by people who profess to be against racism. I award Brent Staples Quote Of The Day honors for proving that I have a point.
Boy do I wish he didn\’t.
