THE VAST RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY: 2016 VERSION

Ken Berwitz

Just in case you didn\’t think Hillary Clinton was stale enough….

Excerpted from Jonathan Swan\’s article at thehill.com:

Hillary Clinton agrees there is still a “vastright-wing conspiracy” and if anything it has only become more richlyfinanced.

During the New Hampshire town hall debate on Wednesdaynight, CNN host Anderson Cooper asked Clinton if she still believes there is a”vast right-wing conspiracy” as she said there was during the late90s to initially explain the Monica Lewinksy scandal.

“Don\’t you?” Clinton replied, as the audiencelaughed. “Yeah. It\’s gotten even better funded.”

“They brought in some new multibillionaires to pump themoney in. Look, these guys play for keeps.

“I know I have to keep defending against them,”Clinton added. “But I\’m the one who has the experience to do that.

“It\’s unlike anything you\’ve ever gone through, to bethe subject of tens of millions of dollars of untrue negative attacks.”

Really?  Is Hillary Clinton, the recipient of more billionaire and big corporation money than most Republicans ever dare to dream of, trotting out the tired cliche she used to defend her husband against the charges related to Monica Lewinsky – charges that turned out to be 100% true?

No wonder 74 year old career politician Bernie Sanders actually looks new and fresh compared to her.

What\’s Ms. Clinton going to do when – unless every poll is wildly inaccurate – Mr. Sanders cleans her clock in New Hampshire next week?  Accuse him of being part of the vast right wing conspiracy too?

It is not just that what Hillary Clinton says is ridiculous and dishonest.  It is old and tired too.  Which makes her come across not just as ridiculous and dishonest but as old and tired too.

Doubt me?  Well, try this:  first think about how old you would have to be to remember when Hillary Clinton wasn\’t there.  Then think about how many voters are younger than that age, thus younger than they would have to be to remember when there was no Hillary Clinton – i.e. in their experience she has always been there.  Just like mom and dad.

See the point?
