Ted Cruz is running for the presidency of The United States.
He is not running for the presidency of his branch of evangelical Christianity.
Yet, this – as excerpted from an article at kwwl.com – is what he told a crowd in western Iowa yesterday, while exhorting them to vote for him:
At a stop Saturday at Darrell\’s Place in Hamlin, Iowa, Cruz urged his supporters to “awaken the body of Christ that we may pull back from the abyss.”
Do I have a problem with a deeply religious man running for President?
No, I do not. This is America.
Do I have a problem with a deeply religious man ignoring the diverse make-up of our country, and injecting his personal religious beliefs into the presidential run – with a full expectation that those beliefs would serve as the basis for how he would conduct himself while President?
You bet I do. This is America.
Ted Cruz will never get my vote.
