THE MOST DISGUSTING NEWSPAPER FRONT PAGE OF THE YEAR: COMPETITION

Ken Berwitz

Yesterday I put up the New York Daily News\’s first page – in which he called people who prayed for the victims of the San Bernardino terrorist attack (there\’s no doubt about that anymore) cowards, and called it the most disgusting front page of the year,

Well, one day later, and here\’s competition: the Daily News front page this morning:

Who edits this paper?  The gang at moveon.org?  Debbie Wasserman Schultz?

Let\’s start with the fact that the four “men” to the left are deranged lunatics who, unless the Daily News can show us otherwise, went on murder sprees for no reason other than their personal sickness/hatred.

syed farook, by contrast, was a radicalized muslim who, we now know, was in league with international terrorists and terrorist organizations which have the common goal of ending western civilization and turning the world into a Jew-free, Christian-free, anything but devout Muslim-free caliphate.

See a bit of a difference?  I know I do.  Evidently the geniuses at the New York Daily News do not.

And the idea of putting up an especially unflattering picture of Wayne LaPierre and calling him a terrorist, as if he condoned anything that happened here, is so insane, so ridiculous, that I wonder if he will sue.  The criteria for such a suit are when when something is published that is knowingly is false, or without regard for whether it is false.  I\’m no lawyer, but I suspect a jury could be persuaded in Mr. LaPierre\’s favor.

Incidentally, the NRA (National Rifle Association) which Wayne LaPierre heads, is a group with about four million members, which – though I do not agree with its positions a lot of the time – strongly supports the second amendment.

Two questions for the Daily News:  Do they realize the second amendment still exists?  Do they think the NRA\’s approximately four million members are terrorists too?

Let me end with a little disclosure.  I am not now, and never have been, a member of the National Rifle Association.  I do not own, and have never owned, a gun.  I have no personal stake in what I\’ve written here.

But I do have a stake – as do we all – in identifying and stopping terrorism.  Not trivializing it in this disgusting way.

To me, the Daily News has forfeited the right to be taken seriously as a newspaper.
