Today’s quote comes to us from Julian Epstein, a lifelong Democrat whose political career includes being chief counsel for the House Judiciary Democrats and the staff director of the House Oversight Committee.
Mr. Epstein, over recent years, has moved from hardline Democrat support to geneal Democrat support, to his current status, which is a Democrat who – understandably, if you ask me – is somewhere between concerned and horrified by the direction his party is quickly moving and who is facilitating the movement.
Here is Julian Epstein’s written statement on the candidacy of abdulrahman mohamed el-sayed’s Senate candidacy in Michigan; who/what el-sayed is, who is supporting him anyway, the rejection of his candidacy by Haley Stevens (who lost the senate primary to him by only about 1%) and what it means to the Democrat Party:
“As traditional constituencies like the working class abandon the Democrats, party leaders are now desperately trying to rebuild the party in the most cynical and immoral of ways. The Democratic Party is quickly becoming a party of racism and bigotry, incorporating now intellectual lineage tied to 1939 Germany.
“El-Sayed has an antisemitic rap sheet that would make a Nazi blush. His illiterate allies like Cenk Uygyr fund television ads blaming Jews for the high prices of bananas. This is the old antisemitic trope, spread by Nazis and fascists, that blames Jews for everything wrong in the world. It has led to millions of Jews being massacred.
“El-Sayed will not repudiate his racist clown pals. The New York Post reports today that Al-Sayed has courted voters in mosques across Michigan that call for “a final solution” and the “extermination” of Jews.
“The Democratic Party used to be a party of principle. In the past, party leader would have repudiated this kind of racism and hate.
“Now these wood cricket humans, these castrados who lead the Democratic Party, normalize the racism. They say it’s part of their big tent. A political party is formed around a set of moral beliefs and principle. When party leaders abandon those beliefs and principles in a raw craven quest for power, then it’s no longer a party in any meaningful sense of the word.
“The fact that Stevens now supports Rogers is a testament to her courage. The callow and cowardly refusal by the rest of the party to do the same tells us that party leaders have no moral core.”
My only disagreement with Mr. Epstein (aside from his capitalizing “nazi” and the names of people who embody the points he made), is that he neglects to name Chuck Schumer (who, at this point, barely earns capitalization) as the source of that unbelievably moronic “big tent” comment.
I award Julian Epstein Quote Of The Day honors for saying out loud what I suspect, and fervently hope, a great many Democrat partisans are thinking – and maybe reacting to with their votes.
