James Talarico, the Texas Democrat Senate candidate, has been sited in public.
After almost two weeks of disappearance, leading to speculation about his health, both physical and mental, Talarico showed up at the “Austin City Limits Music Festival”.
He walked around, took pictures with some attendees, and assured us that his absence was nothing but a bout with the flu…
…which does not, of course, explain why his absence for that period of time was virtually unmentioned while it happened or why the seriousness of a flu that would put someone on ice for two weeks didn’t land him in a hospital.
Does this seem credible? Not to me. But in the absence of proof that it was something else – maybe the mental breakdown explanation floated by GOP strategist Caroline Wren – I can’t say one way or the other.
So as it now stands, he’s back in the public eye and that, true or untrue, is his explanation for the two week no-show.
How will the voters react? No way to tell.
