I have to admit, this astonished me.
My wife just got an email plea for financial support from….graham platner, the Democrats’ senate candidate from Maine.
A reminder: graham platner is a self-described socialist who has also touted communism. He claims to be just an oyster farmer but, in reality, he grew up rich and went to private schools. He has claimed he didn’t know the tattoo on his chest – for 18 years – was a nazi tattoo – which is impossible to believe. He has made it plain he hates Israel. And he has a rich history of mental and physical abuse against women, several of whom have come forth to tell their horror stories about him.
In short, this is a despicable human being with an ugly history, who has no business running for any office on a major party ticket, let alone for the United States Senate.
With that in mind, I would like to show you the appeal for donations that my wife received. Here it is, every word of it:

Is there anything I can say to convince you to make a donation to my campaign and the DSCC to defeat Susan Collins and flip the Senate before midnight tonight?
What if I told you that I am the official Democratic nominee against Susan Collins here in Maine?
What if I told you that Susan Collins is the most vulnerable Republican senator in the entire country?
What if I told you that the future of our very democracy hinges on defeating Susan Collins and taking back the Senate this November?
And what if I told you that I’m not taking money from corporate PACs or special interests, so the only way we’ll defeat Susan Collins and take back the Senate is if you chip in now?
We need to raise another $100,000 before midnight tonight if we’re going to win and flip this Senate seat blue, but right now, we’re still very short. If I’m going to defeat Susan Collins, I am counting on you to give now:

Do you see even one word about anything in this “man”‘s past? Any explanation? Any remorse? Any apology?
No you do not. But you do see that “our very democracy hinges on” defeating Susan Collins – who happens to be a multi-term moderate Republican Senator.
Yep, our very democracy hinges on replacing a political moderate with a socialist, nazi tattoo wearing, Israel hating, serial abuser of women.
Oh, did I mention that the appeal you just read was sent by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) – which, apparently, has no problem with an uregenerate sack of dog waste like graham platner representing Democrats for the next 6 years?
At the beginning of this blog, I mentioned that I found this email astonishing. Come to think of it, given where the Democrat Party is so clearly, so decisively, headed these days, maybe I shouldn’t be astonished at all.
