Today’s quote comes to us from former New York Times and Washington Post “reporter” taylor lorenz.
While being interviewed on CNN, this was her explanation of why people on the hard-left are so attracted to luigi mangione, the “man” who shot and killed United HealthCare CEO Brian Thompson (yeah, I know the trial hasn’t taken place yet, but there is video of him “bravely” shooting Thompson in the back):
“It’s hilarious to see these millionaire media pundits on TV clutching their pearls about someone stanning (becoming obsessed with) a murderer when this is the United States of America, as if we don’t lionize criminals.”
“As if we don’t stan murderers of all sorts. And we give them Netflix shows. There’s a huge disconnect between the narratives and angles a certain mainstream media pushes and what the American public feels, and you see that in moments like this.”
“Here’s this man who’s a revolutionary, who’s famous, who’s handsome, who’s young, who’s smart, he’s a person who seems like he’s this morally good man, which is hard to find,”
There you go. A cold-blooded murderer is just great: handsome, young, smart, morally good. Why? Because he murdered a health care CEO.
Oh, did I mention that the CNN host, donie o’sullivan, thought that was very entertaining? That he laughed at lorenz’s characterization of this cold-blooded murderer?
I award taylor lorenz Quote Of The Day (dis)honors for representing so clearly what a segment – a large segment, it seems pretty clear – of the hard left has become.
I’ll say it again, as I have so many times in the recent past: when it comes to intolerance, hatred and violence, the hard left in this country takes a back seat to no one.
