THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today’s quote comes to us from Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY).

Here is her assessment of The Department Of Education – and, if she is correct, a clear reason why Democrats are having conniptions over Trump’s intent to get rid of it (and here is the video):

“The Federal Department of Education spends it as a budget of about $280 billion a year. Less than 25% goes to educating our students. So where does the other $220 billion go? It goes to a bureaucracy, it goes to a consultant, and that consultant then donates money Back to the Democrats. and then it goes to a different consultant, and then it goes to an NGO. I mean, it is money laundering and money churning at its absolute best.”

Is that correct?  Does the Department of Education get $280 billion dollars a year, with well over $200 billion dollars of it spent somewhere other than educating students?  Is it, in reality, a deep-state devised massive slush fund for Democrats?  For money-leeches who, hidden from view, get rich on taxpayers?

I don’t know the answer, and Rep. Hageman, at least in this interview, has not provided proof.  But it is hard to imagine she just blurted these numbers out, with no serious evidence to back them up.

I will seek out her evidence and get back to you if/when I find out whether these accusations have merit.

U.S. Education, qualitatively speaking has fallen through a trap door.  Way, way too many of our students don’t learn even the basics, even as they are pushed out the doors waving diplomas as if they were truly educated.

Harriet Hagemen wins Quote Of The Day honors for bringing this issue to the front of the line, making me aware of the gigantic amount of money in its budget, and causing me (and, I hope you) to be damn curious about whether she is correct regarding where it is spent and what it is spent on.
