THE BASS AND NEWSOM ABSOLUTION

The reliably, unwaveringly liberal-left, Los Angeles Times has published an article which is supposed to detail the reasons that an entire reservoir, located at the Pacific Palisades, was bone-dry empty when the fires came and destroyed almost everything in their paths.  Written by Matt Hamilton and David Zahniser, it is titled “This reservoir was built to save Pacific Palisades. It was empty when the flames came”.

A logical person would think this must – must – include copious information about how the Governor of California and the Mayor of Los Angeles, both entrusted with the safety of its residents, managed to allow this reservoir to be unused, thus effectively nonexistent, when the fires hit.

Well, here is the article’s entire mention of both Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass:

That the 117-million-gallon reservoir was off line for repairs sparked outrage against the DWP and its leadership, prompting at least two lawsuits and spurring Gov. Gavin Newsom to order an investigation. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has also promised a complete assessment of the city’s response to the wildfire, which has destroyed at least 6,380 structures and killed at least 11 people.

Waiting for more?  Waiting for some assessment of responsibility?  Blame?  If so, you can stop waiting, because it isn’t there.  The one and only reference to Newsom and Bass is that they are both on top of this and investigating how it could have happened.  The fact that they run the state and the city?  Irrelevant ‘n’ immaterial.

The entire blame, reading on from this point, is put on unnamed sources.  “Former and current  DWP officials”, “state officials”, “an engineer with the state water quality office”, etc.

That, folks, is how the Los Angeles Times presents “news” to its readers.  That is its hard-hitting assessment of the how and why of this utter destruction of Pacific Palisades residences.

Are you impressed?  Would it encourage you to read and accept “news” from the Los Angeles Times about activities of Newsom and Bass – both Democrats, of course?

Just asking….
