COMPARING CHRISTIANS AND ISLAMIC RADICALS

Ken Berwitz

Is Christianity comparable in its behavior to radical islam?

That seems like an idiotic question on its face, doesn\’t it?  Can anyone point me toward the Christian hate groups which are killing non-believers wholesale, treating women with less respect than barnyard animals, and tossing gay people off buildings?

The answer, of course, is no.  But, nonetheless, that comparison is being made.

In this regard, newsbusters.org\’s Brent Bozell and Tim Graham have written a commentary about the idiocy of making such a comparison…complete with a short list of people who are doing so.  You can use the above link to read every word (which I hope you do).  But here are the first few paragraphs:

When Islamic terroristattacks cause mass casualties, like the horrific events in Paris, it\’s all welland good to preach the obvious that ISIS killers don\’t represent all Muslims, any more than the Nazis represented all the German people. But what is whollyunacceptable is any attempt to drag Christianity into a moral-equivalency gamewith radical Islam.

The leftist comediansreally should have stopped this gunk when Rosie O\’Donnell announced on The Viewnine years ago that “Radical Christianity is just as threatening asradical Islam in a country like America” because the United States was atwar in Iraq. (Rosie would never be able to define non-radical Christianitybecause in her warped world, that\’s an oxymoron.)

But it just keeps coming.South African import Trevor Noah, Jon Stewart\’s replacement on The Daily Show, took Christianity back to 1478 for a whipping: “Islam is a religion. It\’sopen for violent interpretation and it\’s open for peaceful interpretation. Justlike how Christianity can encompass both the Spanish Inquisition and the littleold lady in church who keeps talking to you about cat\’s diabetes medicine. So,basically, torture either way.”

Religion and violence was apretty constant combination 500 years ago, but what relevance should that havein the 21st century? Liberals want to absolve all Muslims for yesterday\’smassacre by condemning all Christians for the 1500s?  That, ladies andgentlemen, is what you call a stretch.

Yes, it is true that Christianity spent centuries trying to forcibly convert the rest of the world to its beliefs.  That is a historical fact, which Mr. Bozell and Mr. Graham cannot deny.

But, as they ask further on in their commentary, what does this have to do with the 21st century?

FYI, the last Christian crusade ended with the Treaty of Westphalia.  That was in 1648.  My calendar may be wrong, but it says that the current year is 2015.

If the last ISIS or al-qaeda attack were also in 1648 the equivalentists would have a point.  But the last attacks by both groups were within the past ten days….and both are promising more in the immediate future.

Simply stated, a contemporary comparison of Christianity to islamic radicalism not only does not exist, it is complete idiocy…

…which certainly explains why some of the people mentioned in Mr. Bozell and Mr. Graham\’s piece embrace it so completely.
