Today\’s quote comes to us from Hillary Clinton.
Here is what she told CNN\’s Fareed Zakarawi, when he asked her if President Obama had underestimated ISIS by “calling it a JV team”:
“Idon\’t think it\’s useful to go back and re-plow old ground. I think from the perspective of what they hadaccomplished at that time, even though they had seized and held territory, themajor focus of our government was on trying to remove Assad from power so thatthere could a be a resolution, a political resolution.”
That so, Ms. Clinton? It\’s not useful to “go back and re-plow old ground”?
You might recall, Ms. Clinton, that when it was “plowed” the first time, ISIS already had become an international murder machine, and was in the process of burgeoning into a dramatically bigger one…during which time President Obama sat back with his disdainful blow-off and – other than a few bombs and drones – did nothing to stop it.
Here\’s a reminder of the ISIS chronology, courtesy of National Review\’s Brendan Bordelon:
After ISIS captured Fallujah, Iraq in early 2014,President Obama was pressed to explain why the United States seemed to havebeen caught unawares. “If a JV team puts on Lakers uniforms that doesn\’t makethem Kobe Bryant,” he told New Yorker editor David Remnick.
In the following months, ISIS established a defacto capital in Raqqa, Syria; took large swathes of the country and swept intonorthern Iraq; captured Mosul, Iraq\’s second-largest city, before moving onBaghdad; attempted genocide against Yazidi minorities in northern Iraq; anddrew the United States into an air campaign in September 2014.
Old ground? It seems to me that every day there was new ground.
And where were you while President Obama was dithering and doing next to nothing? What did you have to say about stopping ISIS as it happened? What ground were you plowing while it took place?
I award Hillary Clinton Quote Of The Day honors, for again showing us one of her major talents: how to say something, while saying nothing.
