When Donald Trump took office 8 years ago we had a major Iran problem. After being “niced” by Barack Obama for his two terms, its terrorist murderous leaders were well on the way to acquiring nuclear capability.
When Trump left office 4 years ago, Iran was on the rocks, its funds severely depleted by his freezing of their assets and imposition of major sanctions. It looked like there was a very real possibility the Iranian people were ready to finally get rid of the two-legged animals in power.
Now, after four years of Joe Biden – i.e. Barack Obama II – Donald Trump again takes office. And here is what he faces, courtesy of the following excerpts from David Strom’s article for hotair.com:
French President Emmanuel Macron is warning the world that Iran is about to get nuclear weapons. And, golly gee whiz, that might require sanctions to be reimposed.
Uh, dude, that is closing the barn door after the horses escaped. Years after the horses escaped, in fact.
The point of the sanctions that Obama and then Biden skirted in order to fund Iran’s nuclear ambitions and worldwide terrorism was to PREVENT Iran from getting nuclear weapons, not make some useless statement about how naughty it was for them to build them.
Obama mollycoddled Iran, hoping that the terrorist state would become more powerful than Saudi Arabia and become all buddy-buddy with the United States. Trump reversed the policy, putting a “maximum pressure” campaign on Iran that drove them into near bankruptcy.
Among the first things Biden did was go back to the “we love Iranian Mullahs” mode, and the result has been chaos in the Middle East, the aggression of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and war.
And, oh, the near nuclearization of Iran, about which Macron is tut-tutting.
If you asked an enemy of the West to design a policy intended to weaken us, increase the risk of nuclear war, disrupt world trade, and increase terrorism, it would have been hard to devise a strategy more effective than the one our leaders have been following.
I fully expect that one of the first orders of business for Mr. Trump will be to reimpose however many sanctions he can against Iran in the harshest possible way…
…which, if he does so, should earn him the fervent thanks of most of the rest of the world (I acknowledge that the three “h’s” – hamas, hezbollah and the houthis – won’t be pleased at all).
Do you in any way think that President Kamala Harris would be doing anything like this? Protecting the world – especially the middle east and very especially Israel – from khameini and his mass murdering thugs? We both know better.
I can only hope Trump’s actions are able to overcome the abject stupidity of Obama’s and Biden’s Iran policy; that it won’t be too late.
