Al Jazeera is an alleged news organization. An english-language entity operating out of Qatar; that nice country which hosts the billionaire “leaders” of Gaza – who use international aid money to live in luxury, far from the unholy mess they leave their own people, the ones who that aid money is supposed to benefit.
In May, Israel – by unanimous vote of its cabinet – temporarily banned al jazeera from the country – a ban that has since been extended. The reason was that was operating more as a proponent of Gaza/hamas than as a journalistic entity.
And now, believe it or not, al jazeera has been banned by….the Palestinian Authority; the Arab rulers of Judea and Samaria (aka the west bank). The reason? According to Wafa, the official (therefore only) news agency there, it is accused of broadcasting “inciting materials” and “misleading reports” that “provoke strife and interfere in Palestinian internal affairs.”
It has been said that good journalism means both sides of a conflict are unhappy with the way it is being reported.
But it is just as true that this defines bad journalism as well.
With al jazeera? I think I’m going with door #2.
