Today’s quote comes to us from former Speaker Of The House Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
While being interviewed by Lulu Garcia-Navarro on The New York Times “The Interview” podcast, Pelosi “explained” why Kamala Harris lost the 2024 presidential election:
“And as I say, Kamala may have, I think she would have done well in [a primary] and been stronger going forward. But we don’t know that. That didn’t happen. We live with what happened. And because the president endorsed Kamala Harris immediately, that really made it almost impossible to have a primary at that time. If it had been much earlier, it would have been different.”
My reaction: ?????????????
Let’s start with the fact that a key reason the obviously impaired Joe Biden hung on as long as he did was that a certain former Speaker Of The House – Nancy Pelosi was her name – kept assuring us he was just fine, no problem at all. Here’s just one example from earlier this year, when Pelosi was talking to Anderson Cooper of CNN:
“I’ve worked with the president for a long time, especially closely as Speaker when he was president, and now since then, and he knows … I mean, he’s always on the ball. He knows these issues; he knows the legislation. He helped write some of it; he campaigned on it.
“Anyone who would think that they’re at some advantage because of his age thinks that at their peril, because he’s very sharp.”
Uh…wait a minute.
Forgetting for a moment that, in my opinion, Harris was a disastrous candidate who would have lost anyway….
…what you just read was Nancy Pelosi aggressively touting Joe Biden’s mental acuity – when his exit from the presidential race would have created the beneficial condition for Harris that she was talking about on the New York Times podcast . Wasn’t Pelosi, therefore, a reason Biden hung on as long as he did? A reason that Harris didn’t get that extra time to sell herself to the voters?
Yet here she is now, disingenuously pontificating about why Harris lost as if she had nothing to do with the circumstances which, she claims, caused that loss.
I award Nancy Pelosi Quote Of The Day “honors” for showing that, while Joe Biden may not be anything near what he used to be, she is 100% as phony and duplicitous as she always has been.
The sooner Democrats wave goodbye to her, the better.
