With apologies to Mr. Griswold, I am posting it below (it\’s too short to excerpt):
Days after aUniversity of Missouri media professor came underscrutiny for blocking and harassing protesters, the editor inchief of a Loyola Univerity campus newspaper has done the same.
According to the ChicagoTribune\’s Tony Briscoe, during a protestcalled for by the campus African-American paper The Black Tribune, protesters “lockedhands and members of The Black Tribune asked the media, notincluding those from their own publication, to stand outside the perimeter.”
“Hey, no media in thecircle,” Ryan Sorrell, the founder of The BlackTribune. “Sorry, man. You\’re good, but just not in the circle.” As in the Mizzouprotests, students then tightened the circle and locked arms.
According to The BlackTribune\’s reporting of the event, “We are not fighting to reform orsupport the oppressive systems that academia upholds. We are fighting for morespaces where black and brown students are safe and no longer targeted, terrorized and traumatized.”
I\’d say this is unbelievable. But, with great sadness, it isn\’t. It is all too believable.
In the name of fighting racism, we have Black “students” intentionally segregating themselves from Whites and other non-Blacks. This is supposed to make them “safe”.
Just like a White man who moves to an all-White neighborhood, on the grounds that if there are no Black people there he will be safe. Same concept. “I don\’t like those people, based on the color of their skin, so I\’m going to do whatever I can to avoid having to be with them”. Same concept: judging people by skin color instead of as individuals.
But most White men who try to segregate themselves from Black people do not claim it is for the cause of fighting racism. This particular insanity comes to us from supposed institutions of higher learning.
But should we be surprised? If so, why?
Over the years, the administrations of many of so many colleges and universities around the country have allowed there to be Black-only orientations, Black-only dormitories, have allowed Black students to set up areas in the cafeterias and libraries that discourage/outright disallow non-Black students from, and have allowed Black graduation ceremonies. A virtually segregated college “education” – which, they have convinced themselves, is a way of empowering Black students and fighting racism.
In reality, this idiocy has managed to turn the racism they think they are fighting inside out. Now, instead of preventing White on Black racism, they have aided and abetted a system of Black on White racism. And – saddest of all – they think they\’ve struck a blow against racism. Instead of empowering Black students, they have taught them it is OK to hate and OK to segregate – exactly what a kkk member might teach his/her children.
I\’ll end by pointing out that it is an excellent bet you will see the same kind of protests – the same kind of “acceptable racism” – duplicated at numerous other colleges and universities around the country.
What a wonderful legacy for the “enlightened” faculties which allowed this to grow and fester.
