MSNB(Ceeya)?

How far have MSNBC’s ratings cratered since the election?

Here’s your answer, using a comparative of ratings on October 30 – the week before the election, and November 8 – three days afterward:

-Morning Joe 1st hour (6AM-7AM): down 39.6%

-Morning Joe 2d hour – (7AM-8AM): down 36.9%

-Andrea Mitchell – (12PM-1PM): down 39.7%

-Ari Melber – (6PM-7PM): down 49.6%

-Joy Reid’s Reidout – (7PM-8PM): down 54.6%

-All-in w Chris Hayes – (8PM-9PM): down 47.2%

-Alex Wagner Tonight- (9PM-10PM): down 53.6%

-Lawrence O’Donnell – (10PM-11PM ):down 60.6%

-Stephanie Ruhle – 11PM-12AM): down 67%

Is this just an anomaly?  A facet of the election being over, so viewer interest is down?

Not if you take into account following information from Brian Flood’s (no doubt joyous) article at Fox News (the bold print is mine):

During the primetime hours of 8-11 p.m. ET, MSNBC averaged 1.8 million total viewers in October but viewership of “Alex Wagner Tonight,” “All in with Chris Hayes” and “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” have averaged only 808,000 total viewers since election night. The 54% drop represents more than half of the network’s primetime viewers, and MSNBC is also down 51% from its year-to-date totals while Fox News is up 58% in primetime compared to 2024 averages.

Looking at the above, we have to consider the likelihood that MSNBC’s numbers are not just short-term post-election unhappiness with the result, they may be sticking around for a while.

Time will tell.
