It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
From Michael Dorgan’s article at Fox News, via msn.com, we have this:
Americans are turning the page on the woke left’s approach to crime, if this week’s district attorney elections are anything to go by.
A majority of the 25 George Soros-linked district attorneys on the ballot this week were defeated, signaling a backlash against progressive policies that critics say are to blame for a surge in crime across the country in recent years.
Many of the losing Soros candidates were running for office in deep blue jurisdictions and suffered heavy losses despite Vice President Harris clocking up comfortable majorities in those same areas – indicating that a large portion of Democrats are also done with the progressive Left’s soft on crime experiment, according to the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund, a pro-police non-profit that tracked the 25 races.
Of the 25 Soros-linked district attorneys on the ballot, 12 were either defeated or recalled.
Other than Mr. Dorgan’s apparent problem with math (12 is not a majority of 25), he brings us very, very good news.
These hard-left district attorneys have literally been destroying the cities they were elected to protect. San Francisco and Los Angeles immediately come to mind, but there are a good many others as well.
We have spent several days discussing Donald Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris. But that is not the entire story, not by a long shot.
We cannot forget that the soros scourge – district attorneys who disdain the police and allow massive criminality in the streets and the stores – has negatively affected everyday life for average people. And this, in turn, has apparently moved a great many of those people away from the Democrat Party – some of whom, I have no doubt, voted Republican more because they cannot abide what their party has become than out of any positive feeling for Trump himself.
So what does this mean?
It means that, in order to be competitive going forward, the Democrat Party has to realign itself. It has to become more palatable to the people it lost in this election, or they will remain lost going forward.
And it has to do so even if it means angering the “woke” crowd which, at least until this past Tuesday, has spent years running the Democrat show/overseeing its now-rejected leftward lurch. If they don’t like it? Boo hoo.
The great philosopher, George Santayana, famously said “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” If the Democrat Party wants to make a comeback any time soon, it damn well better remember November 5, 2024.
