REINCE TOSSES MATT LAUER UNDER THE PRIEBUS

Ken Berwitz

Reince Priebus, who heads the Republican National Committee, was on this morning\’s Today Show.  He was interviewed by Matt Lauer, who decided to “show” him that Republicans like Ben Carson are given no more or less of a fair shake than Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton.

Stopped laughing yet?

Here is the key part of their colluquy:

LAUER: Dr. Carson issaying that he is being targeted, not vetted. And if he says he is beingvetted, he says he is being vetted more severely than anyone else, includingBarack Obama, who faced years of birther questions, and Hillary Clinton, as youjust mentioned, who\’s faced decades of questions about her marriage, herpersonal life, her e-mails, 11 hours in a chair in front of Congress just acouple of weeks ago. Is he being more severely vetted than anyone else?

PRIEBUS: Yeah, but thedifference is that the media is actually, you know – they do have an actualvendetta or at least an agenda against some of these candidates. In regard toHillary Clinton, the media sort of, yeah, they cover it, but they cover it witha laugh and a wink and a nod, and you know, “Isn\’t this horrible that she hadto sit in a chair for 11 hours?” I mean, that\’s the tone of the coverage ofHillary Clinton. It\’s a tone of, “This is silly, let\’s move on.”

Whereas with theRepublicans it\’s, “Hey, can you believe that, you know, 40 years ago thishappened or that, hey, you know, this credit card over here.” I mean, those arethings that might be interesting for, you know, a question, but not anobsession.

LAUER: But just to –

PRIEBUS: I would saythat Hillary Clinton\’s past is something that people ought to be obsessed with.

Wow.

Simply stated, Reince lauered the boom on Matt, and tossed him under the Priebus.

Let\’s put it this way, Priebus (most deservedly) made Matt Lauer look even worse than I do for the above two puns.  And it doesn\’t get much worse than that.
