Sadly there remains no shortage of material for our Real Racism series.
But, just as sadly, there are still some people who don\’t realize just how racist the group being cited below really is.
Taylor Griffin, whoworks as a press assistant for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi andpreviously led a Black Lives Matter protest in blocking off a Washington,D.C. highway had a tense confrontation with DC police officers at a Black LivesMatter event Sunday evening.
The confrontation tookplace at a racially exclusive #BlackLivesMatter event titled #BlackJoySunday,which is advertised as a “consistent place where we can be affirmed in ourblackness and cultivate a shared sense of black joy” and “a healing space forall black people.”
A Facebook post by Black Lives Matter DMV advertised theevent as a “house party” exclusively for “all black people” in DC\’s Anacostianeighborhood. Videos of the event uploaded to Griffin\’s Twitter account showedparticipants dancing in the front yard with red party cups in their hands.
Translation (as if you needed one): We\’re Black and we can segregate ourselves from White people all we want. Because White people – all of them – are a danger to us. No exceptions.
Can you imagine -can you even begin to imagine, what would happen if a press assistant for, say, newly elected Speaker Of The House, Republican Paul Ryan – who holds the same position Nancy Pelosi did – confronted police while participating in an all-White, no-Blacks-allowed event?
There would be demands that he resign, that Ryan apologize for his racism (any racist staff member would make him a racist too), and immediately resign. Immediately. Loudly. And with full support from our media.
Now wait for the same to happen to Nancy Pelosi\’s Taylor Griffin. Be sure to bring a lot of reading material. Like the entire contents of the main branch of your local library. And have a back-up plan if you need more time after that.
And wait just as long for media to look at this, see what is dead-on in front of their eyes, and call #blacklivesmatter the racist hate group it so obviously is.
Real racism. It comes in all forms from all sources. No group is immune to it or from it. Certainly not this ugly, but still media-protected, one.
