On September 6th, the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) formally endorsed Donald Trump for President. The group is comprised of about 377,000 members nationally.
According to Patrick Yoes, the FOP’s national President:
“Public safety and border security will be important issues in the last months of this campaign,” Yoes said. “Our members carefully considered the positions of the candidates on the issues and there was no doubt—zero doubt—as to who they want as our President for the next four years: Donald J. Trump.”
But it’s not like Kamala Harris doesn’t have a police endorsement as well…sort of.
According to Fernando Cervantes Jr.’s article for USA Today:
A group of national law enforcement leaders have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris weeks after the National Fraternal Order of Police backed former President Donald Trump.
The group, Police Leaders for Community Safety, was created in 2024 as a non-partisan 501(c)4, and describes itself as an organization that represents dozens of police officials. In a press release Monday, chairwoman Sue Riseling expressed the organization’s support for Harris.
Not surprisingly, Vice President Harris proudly cited this endorsement, calling it “huge”.
But how “huge” is it? How comparable are these two groups? Did Mr. Cervantes Jr.’s article say “dozens of police officials” – not dozens of chapters, but dozens of individuals? Did we get that right?
Here’s your answer – along with a heads-up on who these “dozens” are – from Deborah Heine’s article at American Greatness:
On Monday, the pro-Harris-Walz X account “Harris Wins” excitedly shared on X that Harris had won some law enforcement support of her own: “The Police Leaders for Community Safety just announced they are endorsing Kamala Harris over Donald Trump. Law enforcement agencies do not want to support a convicted felon. This is huge,” it said.
The notoriously misleading and deceptive “Kamala HQ” X account also trumpeted the news that a “leading law enforcement group” had endorsed Harris.
In truth, “Police Leaders for Community Safety” is a very small national advocacy (501(c)4) nonprofit that has never endorsed Trump or anyone else. The group was only recently activated in June of 2024, and is headed by former UW-Madison Police Chief Sue Riseling, whose rabidly left-wing, anti-Trump proclivities are openly on display on social media.
While the NFOP boasts more than 377,000 members, the newly formed Police Leaders for Community Safety claims to made up of “50 prominent law enforcement leaders.”
Ms. Heine’s article goes on to show a number of tweets by Sue Riseling – all of them angry and hard-left – culminating in her statement that since Elon Musk took over twitter.com she would no longer post there.
But, as you can see in the above excerpts, Kamala Harris is trying to establish some kind of equality between it and the 377,000 member FOP.
The saddest part? There are people – the SIP crowd (either too Stupid, and/or too Ignorant, and/or too Partisan to doubt a thing she says) who will buy it, with no questions asked.
Just put them in the “this is the way things are” category and move on. It’s all you can do.
