CNN: CALLING OUT (A FEW OF) TIM WALZ’S LIES

Yes, I know it seems improbable that CNN would be the news venue calling out Tim Walz for his lies about Republican Vice Presidential candidate J. D. Vance.  But – at least this one time – it did happen.

From Daniel Dale’s article for CNN, via msn.com, we have this:

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, has made at least three false claims over the last two weeks about the Republican vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance of Ohio and Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump.

Walz claimed in a speech in North Carolina last Tuesday: “And now Trump is trying to create this new government entity that will monitor all pregnancies to enforce their abortion bans.” He made an even more dramatic claim in a speech in Wisconsin on September 14: “Think about what they’re saying in Project 2025: you’re going to have to register with a new federal agency when you get pregnant.”

Facts First: Walz’s claims are false.

In a Saturday speech in Pennsylvania, Walz said, “My opponent, Senator Vance, had a quote that – you read it, you hear it, gloss over it. But think about how deeply disturbing this is. He said that when they get power and they will use the Project 2025, they need to be ruthless when it comes to the exercise of power.”

Facts First: Walz’s claim is false.

In the Saturday speech in Pennsylvania, Walz said, “We saw Senator Vance lead an audience when he said, ‘Well, they reduced interest rates this week. How terrible is that?’ And he got the crowd booing. Who boos for lower interest rates?”

Facts First: Walz’s claim about Vance is false.

If you use the link I’ve provided you will read detailed explanations of just how false these claims are.  I urge you to do so.

With the above in mind, there are things about what you just read that are not surprising and that are surprising.

What is not surprising is that Tim Walz lies.  I doubt Walz has even a passing acquaintance with truth:  he has serially lied about most of his personal background and performance in government.  So it stands to reason he’d lie about his political opponent as well.

What is surprising, however, is that CNN would be calling out this particular set of lies.  CNN – let me put this charitably – has a less than neutral history of dealing with the Harris/Walz team versus the Trump/Vance team.

But credit where credit is due.  Today they have squared the circle and nailed Walz for his lies.

Now, when do they talk about Walz’s overt tip of the hat to socialism/equation of socialism and “neighborliness”, and explore the reasons for his massive number of trips to communist China – including his own honeymoon?

If CNN truly wants to cut the umbilical cord and practice neutral journalism, it (and other mainstream media) should be all over these facts.

I’m not holding my breath waiting.
