THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today’s quote comes to us from Israel Cruz, a Philadelphia resident and long-time Democrat who has now become a Republican.

On Laura Ingraham’s show last night, Cruz was asked why he switched parties.  This was his answer:

“I grew up in New York and Philadelphia, and that’s all we were told is, y’know, vote Democrat, vote Democrat, vote Democrat. So you don’t understand why.

“But once you start seeing what the media says and where you’re living at and there’s no correlation going on there, and like the media is lying so what else do I not trust? And that’s the problem.”

“I started not trusting them.  I started not trusting the Democrats and then I started looking into things myself. And I saw that when they spoke, they were lying. And when I saw – you know, the Republican Party is supposedly for the rich and the Democrats are for the poor. Why do I want to be for the poor? I wanted to move my family forward.

“I wanted to propel myself. And that’s all they wanted us to do is to take that, you know, take that little meal ticket, welfare checks, whatever. And I said no, we’re not going to do that in my family.”

Not only is this well said – very well said – but, I have no doubt, it reflects exactly the way a large, and growing, number of Latino and Black voters feel about the difference between today’s Democrat and Republican parties.

Mr. Cruz tells us he grew up being expected to reflexively vote Democrat.  But based on what the two parties are all about today, his logical choice is to go Republican.

Democrats, for decades, have second-naturedly expected these votes to go their way.  The philosophy has been “just say the right things and give them stuff and they’ll vote for you”.  With this in place, they apparently have assumed – at least until now – that no matter how far left the party lurches minoritiy voters will just obediently go along for the ride.

But, despite the belief of some people on both sides of the aisle (albeit for very different reasons), minorities actually do have brains, actually are fully capable of engaging in thought processes….and know what is and is not good for them and their families.

Yes, some Latinos and Blacks can be led around by the nose.  Some will just vote the way they’re “supposed to” without thinking about it (I can say the same about every other ethnic and racial group as well).

But there are an awful lot of Israel Cruz’s out there.  And, politically speaking, they know what they do – and do not – like/want and will adjust their voting habits accordingly.

I award Israel Cruz Quote Of The Day honors for stating his logic so clearly.

I wonder if his former Democrat masters are listening yet.

They better be.
